Some writers begin their journey with ambition. Others begin with a deeper calling one that grows quietly through observation, reflection, and lived experience. For Dhaksheena Dharshini, writing was never a planned pursuit. It emerged naturally, shaped by a life rooted in discipline, service, and learning.
Raised in a family where values were practiced rather than preached, Dhaksheena grew up witnessing two strong influences her father’s service in the Indian Army and her mother’s dedication as a teacher. These environments did not just shape her routine; they shaped her perspective. Moving through cantonment spaces during her childhood, she absorbed the silence of discipline, the strength of simplicity, and the meaning of responsibility.
It was in these quiet spaces that her journey as a writer began not as an ambition, but as a response.
Writing became her way of holding onto moments, emotions, and stories that felt too meaningful to be forgotten. Over time, she realized that some stories carry a certain weight they demand to be preserved with honesty and care. This realization transformed writing from a habit into a responsibility.
Her work is deeply rooted in themes of courage, resilience, moral conviction, and human dignity. She is drawn to stories where individuals stand firm in the face of adversity, not for recognition, but because it is the right thing to do. For her, such narratives are not just reflections of the past they are lessons that remain relevant in shaping how we think and act today.
But this journey has not been without its challenges.
Writing about real lives and historical realities requires more than expression it demands accuracy, patience, and integrity. As a young writer, Dhaksheena often found herself questioning whether she was doing justice to the stories she chose to tell. Instead of stepping away from these doubts, she leaned into them. She revisited her work, refined her understanding, and approached every page with humility.
Under the guidance of Colonel Rajeev Bagga, she developed a deeper sense of discipline in her writing. His emphasis on clarity and truth helped her understand that writing is not just about storytelling it is about being accountable to the truth behind every word.
Among her works, Daughter of Fire holds a special place in her heart. It represents not just a story, but her sincere effort to understand and preserve a life defined by courage and dignity. The process itself became a learning experience, shaping her identity as a writer who values sincerity above all.
Beyond writing, Dhaksheena’s journey reflects a strong commitment to service. As a volunteer teacher, she has dedicated her time to educating underprivileged children, including those in rural and conflict-affected areas. Teaching students along the Line of Control under challenging conditions has further deepened her understanding of resilience and human strength qualities that naturally find their way into her writing.
Currently pursuing B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, she represents a unique blend of technology and creativity. While her academic journey moves toward innovation, her writing remains grounded in purpose and humanity.
Her message is simple yet profound: courage is often quiet. It exists in everyday choices in standing firm, in staying true to one’s values, and in continuing forward even when the path is uncertain.
As she looks ahead, Dhaksheena does not seek rapid expansion, but deeper growth. She hopes to continue writing with honesty, exploring narratives that carry meaning, and staying committed to the responsibility that writing demands.
Because for her, writing is not just about being heard it is about ensuring that stories worth remembering are never lost.
