As the fifth generation Ayurvedacharya of the Raiguru family, Dr. Rasmita carries forward a legacy of nearly 125 years of traditional Ayurvedic knowledge. Her family history traces back to Rajvaidya Chaturbhuja Raiguru, who was born in 1866 in Telenda, Odisha, and went on to become the Raj Vaidya of Maharaja Bir Mitrodaya Singh Deo of now Subarnapur district,Odisha. He was recognised with the prestigious title of Vaidyalankar and became known for his contribution to Ayurvedic healing, including during periods when cholera severely affected the region.
That heritage eventually found its way to Dr. Rasmita, who represents the fifth generation of the family’s Ayurvedic tradition. Yet, her journey has not simply been about preserving the past. It has been about reimagining how traditional healthcare can serve a modern and geographically dispersed society.
Dr. Rasmita’s professional journey has taken her through multiple dimensions of healthcare. She has contributed to public health initiatives through the central government’s Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram, gained corporate exposure with Dabur India Limited, and built experience through clinical practice. She also made a deeply personal decision to step away from a secure government medical position to prioritise her family, standing beside her husband and raising her child.
Rather than seeing that transition as a pause in her professional life, she transformed it into an opportunity to build something of her own.
That vision became The Raiguru Ayurveda, an MSME registered and trademark protected Ayurvedic E Clinic designed to make authentic Ayurvedic consultation accessible beyond geographical boundaries. Today, patients across India and international locations can connect with Dr. Rasmita through online video and audio consultations, bringing traditional Ayurvedic guidance into homes far beyond the physical clinic.
Her achievements have also marked important milestones in her professional journey. In 2022, she was honoured with a Women Achiever Award. She became the first female Ayurvedic clinical practitioner to establish a clinic in Sonepur district of Odisha and has developed expertise as a Garbha Samskara expert and health coach.
One of her distinctive initiatives is her signature Ayurvedic Garbha Samskara for Divya Santan programme, through which she seeks to introduce authentic prenatal traditions and Ayurvedic principles to expecting parents in Odisha and beyond. Her work reflects a broader belief that wellness should not begin only after illness appears, but can be nurtured through conscious lifestyle practices, preventive care, and traditional wisdom.
At the heart of Dr. Rasmita’s philosophy is a simple but powerful idea, true healing requires looking beyond symptoms and understanding the underlying causes of imbalance. Ayurveda, in her view, offers a framework for approaching health through lifestyle discipline, individual understanding, and a deeper connection with the body and its natural rhythms.
